3tej is an independent, ad-supported reference for people who need the math on multi-country tax, salary, retirement, and personal-finance decisions. We specialise in the kind of work that's tedious to do by hand and easy to get wrong: bracket arithmetic across 8 country systems, contribution-limit tracking, and side-by-side cross-country comparisons.

What we are, in numbers

Every number below is computed from the live data files in the repository, not hand-typed. The tax data freshness stamps live in config/editorial.js and propagate to every page that cites them.

What we publish

• Country tax calculators for the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, Singapore, UAE, and Germany. Each carries the official source it was reconciled against and the date of last reconciliation.
• Salary, retirement, and contribution-limit tools for each of the 8 locales, including the country-specific edge cases (US 401(k) catch-up, UK pension annual allowance taper, Canada FHSA, Australia HECS-HELP, India 80C, Germany Pendlerpauschale, etc.).
• Multi-country comparison tools: take-home pay on the same gross salary in 4-8 jurisdictions, buy-vs-rent across 7 countries, sovereign-tax comparison for expats and contractors.
• Editorial guides and policy news in long form: how a specific rate or threshold actually applies, what the latest budget changed, and the worked examples behind it.
• General-purpose utilities (unit converters, basic math, dev tools) that share the same browser-only privacy model. We carry these because readers ask for them; they are not our editorial focus.

What we do not publish

• Personalised financial, legal, tax, or medical advice. The calculators do the math; they do not know your full circumstances.
• AI-generated rate tables, AI-attributed quotes, or AI-fabricated citations. AI is used as a drafting aid; numbers and facts are verified against the primary source before publish.
• Sponsored calculators, paid placements, or advertorials dressed as ordinary content.
• Comments without moderation. Every submission is reviewed by a human before it appears publicly.

We name the humans accountable for the content. Every blog post, news article, and explanatory page carries a byline; click any byline to see the full profile.

Teja founded 3tej in 2024 to make multi-country tax and salary math less painful. The site began as a personal toolkit for navigating US, UK, and India tax filings as an engineer working across jurisdictions, and grew into a maintained reference for the same problem at scale. He builds and maintains the calculators, writes the editorial guides on policy changes, and signs off every rate update before publish.

How we work

We publish methodology and policy openly so readers can audit our work:

• Methodology - the primary-source list for each country, the freshness calendar, the code-review rule that every rate change must update its citation date, and the fact-check process.
• Editorial standards - bylines, corrections policy, AI-use disclosure, advertising firewall, conflict-of-interest rules, comment moderation policy.
• Privacy policy - what we collect, what we don't, and how the browser-only calculation model protects the numbers you type.
• Disclaimer - we are not a substitute for a qualified accountant, advisor, or doctor.

How 3tej is funded

3tej is privately funded by its founder. Operating costs are offset by third-party display advertising (Google AdSense) and a small number of disclosed affiliate links on specific finance-product comparisons. We do not accept paid placements, sponsored calculators, or guest posts. Advertising decisions do not influence editorial; the firewall is documented in our editorial standards.
