Cookie Policy

A small list, plainly explained. No advertising trackers, no behavioural profiles, no fingerprinting.

Last updated: May 2026

🍪 At a glance

  • Necessary - Cloudflare bot protection. Required for the site to load safely.
  • Analytics - Umami, cookieless and privacy-first. Used to count pageviews.
  • Preferences - your tool settings (currency, theme) stored in local storage on your device.
  • Advertising - if you visit a page with display ads, AdSense may use a small set of cookies. Disabled where consent is required and absent.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. The next time you visit, the browser sends the cookie back so the site can recognize the visit, remember a preference, or maintain a session. Local storage is similar but lives only in your browser and is not sent automatically with each request.

The full list

Strictly necessary (Cloudflare)

NamePurposeLifetime
cf_clearanceRecords that you passed a Cloudflare browser challenge so you don't have to repeat it on every page.30 days
__cf_bmCloudflare bot management; distinguishes humans from automated traffic for short windows.30 minutes

These are set by Cloudflare, our hosting provider. They are functionally required.

Analytics (Umami, cookieless)

We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-first, GDPR-compliant analytics service. Umami is cookieless by design: it does not set cookies on your device, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personally identifiable information. The script counts anonymous pageviews and referrers only.

If you prefer no analytics at all, any browser-level "Do Not Track" signal, tracking-protection mode (Firefox / Safari / Brave), or ad blocker will block Umami too.

Preferences (local storage, not cookies)

If you change a theme, currency, country default, or other tool preference, that choice is saved to local storage in your browser. It is not a cookie and is not sent with HTTP requests. Examples of keys 3Tej may set:

  • 3tej_theme - light / dark / auto.
  • 3tej_currency - preferred display currency.
  • 3tej_country - default country page (e.g. in, us).
  • Per-tool save-state for in-progress puzzles (Sudoku grid, Wordle history, etc.).

Local storage stays on your device. Clearing site data in your browser removes it.

Advertising (Google AdSense, when shown)

On pages with display ads, Google AdSense may set its own cookies for frequency capping, basic ad personalization, and fraud prevention. In regions with consent requirements (EEA, UK, Switzerland, where applicable), these are non-personalized unless consent is given. AdSense identifies itself in your browser's cookie inspector with names like __gads, __gpi, and similar.

How to opt out

You have several ways to refuse or remove cookies and analytics tracking:

  • Browser settings - in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge you can block third-party cookies entirely.
  • Tracking protection - Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection, Safari's Intelligent Tracking Prevention, and Brave's built-in shields block third-party analytics by default.
  • Ad blockers - uBlock Origin, AdGuard, and similar block analytics scripts and AdSense.
  • Clear your cookies - visit your browser's privacy settings and clear cookies for 3tej.com and .cloudflare.com. Umami sets no cookies of its own.

Calculators continue to work with cookies disabled. The site is built to degrade gracefully.

Do Not Track

We respect the browser's "Do Not Track" signal where technically feasible. Be aware that DNT is widely deprecated and many third-party scripts ignore it; combining DNT with an ad blocker or tracking-protection mode gives stronger results.
