Tips and best practices

  • Photograph against a contrasting background - white subject on dark, dark subject on white - for the cleanest auto-cutout.
  • Even lighting helps. Hard shadows can confuse edge detection.
  • For e-commerce, photograph products on white. Even with a perfect cutout, white-to-white is the most forgiving for marketplace listings.
  • After cutout, paste onto a solid color before downloading if you need a JPG output (JPG cannot keep transparency).
